Artifacts on Display – Poem by Rosalee Thompson

armless

The summer
I had an eighteen year old lover
who tried to go through my bedroom mirror
I was forty

His mouth was a raspberry fish
He tasted like jawbreaker red
Boy tongue licking the glass

Made from forever
spilling like hot August
star rose petals can’t
break

The next today
who waits for the beautiful you
